Winnsboro Independent School District administrators held their first construction meeting with members of Hellas Construction on Wednesday.
During the introductory meeting, WISD discussed the scope of the job, reviewed the plans, and met the job superintendent and project manager.
Work on the new stadium is scheduled to begin on April 7. A silk temporary fence will go up that day and job trailers will begin arriving shortly after that. The track will be closed beginning April 7 to allow for construction.
The completion of the WHS stadium is part of the WISD Extra-curricular Facilities Project and will include bleachers, press-boxes, a concession stand, restrooms, dressing rooms, officials’ room, and a multi-purpose room that could be utilized by multi sports and organizations.
The additional two phases of the WISD Extra-curricular Facilities Project include the Animal Science Facility and the baseball, softball playing surfaces. These two projects are still in the discussion and planning stage. Administrators and staff are currently reviewing scope of the projects, design and funding options.
WISD is excited to begin this project and will continue to communicate all updates.
